I just finished reading Michael Crichton's newest book "Next". Genetic manipulation is a pretty freaky subject. My favorite parts of the book were the parrot that did math and the chimp that moved in with a family. Because they both had human genes in them, they talked like they were human. There is a lot of technical jargon in the book that can make some of the content confusing, but you don't have to understand all of the jargon to understand the book. The book is a bunch of chopped up stories & only some of them come together at the end.
Michael Crichton is a diverse author and one that will tend to make you use your brain. He can also be very detailed with gruesome descriptions. You may know his stuff from the movie theater with titles like The 13th Warrior, Timeline, Jurassic Park & Twister.
